It is hard to believe it has been more than 15 months since the world plunged into locked-down states to help flatten the COVID curve.

Masks are slowly being removed thanks to worldwide collaboration on COVID testing, vaccine discovery, production and distribution. There is greater hope on the horizon as vaccines are tested and approved for the pediatric population. This is in contrast to the Influenza pandemic in 1918 - the influenza virus was not successfully isolated until 1933, and the first influenza vaccine wasn’t used on a mass scale until 1944...



AAP Section Update

The provisional section on Urgent Care medicine was created in 2019 to address the rapidly growing field of pediatric urgent care and the emergence of pediatrics-specific urgent care centers. 

It is a great resource for clinicians working in this field. Thuylinh Pham MD FAAP, writes to us this month with an update on this section...



Operations During the Pandemic

Managing Pediatric Urgent Care centers through the pandemic was a challenge for all of us in many ways. This month we speak with Dr. Marc Leder from Nationwide Children’s Hospital Urgent Care Division about ways in which their division adapted their centers throughout the pandemic.

Mike Moran Scholar Award

Mike MoranThe Mike Moran Scholar Award is presented annually to a pediatric resident or fellow in training in the field of pediatric urgent care (MD/DO, NP, PA), with the goal of enhancing clinical research in pediatric urgent care.  

Mike Moran MD was a founding member of Society for Pediatric Urgent Care.

The Organization for Urgent Care Health (OUCH) annual survey of pediatric urgent cares has an exciting announcement.  This year SPUC and ECG have partnered and are using the OUCH survey data to compile a national benchmarking report for pediatric urgent care! The OUCH 2020 survey was sent to leaders in July.  If you haven’t yet responded to the OUCH 2020 survey, please do so ASAP.  If you aren’t sure or didn’t receive an invitation to participate, email [email protected]
