Why did you choose the Pediatric Urgent Care field?

It’s a fun and interesting combination of pediatric illness and injury. I enjoy the quick problem-solving and getting kids what they need to feel better.

Why did you join SPUC?

I joined to better connect with others from across the country as SPUC continues to be the flagship organization for our field. The CME webinars in particular are outstanding benefit which all members should take an opportunity to participate in whenever possible. The Annual Conference is packed with great information, activities and great people as well!

Short Biography

I am originally from Minnesota, but I’m told that my accent isn’t too bad. I have an engineering background in Biomedical Engineering at Michigan Technological University in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. My undergraduate research project studied grizzly bears and their unique ability to resist disuse osteoporosis during hibernation. I then went to medical school at the University of Illinois where I met my wife, who is originally from Denver. I also obtained a PhD in Bioengineering where I studied adult stem cells in bone regeneration. We have 3 wonderful children and currently live in Columbus, Ohio where I did my pediatric residency and now work as an attending at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. I serve as the Associate Division Chief of Research for the Urgent Care clinical division.
