Darla Gallentine, DO
Why did you choose the Pediatric Urgent Care field?
When I worked in the Peds ED, I saw a need for pediatric specific care that could encompass more than can be offered at a general pediatrician’s office for all the kids that don’t really need ED level care. I opened a Peds Urgent Care in the Triangle area of North Carolina and transitioned out of the ED.
Why did you join SPUC?
I was excited to find a professional organization specific to peds urgent care that offered both networking and education.
How long have you been a member of SPUC?
Almost since its inception
Please list a few of your most recent accomplishments:
My most recent accomplishments are more related to areas outside of medicine these days. Peds urgent care allows a lot of time for hobbies and travel and I excel at these things when I am not running my department.
