Vanessa Gonzalez MD FAAP
Why did you choose the Pediatric Urgent Care field?
I love the variety of problems and age ranges we get to see, interacting with kids and reassuring parents when they are worried. I like the fact that I can still keep my skills up to date on procedures like splinting and lacerations.
Why did you join SPUC?
To gain insight on pediatric urgent care topics and evidence-based medicine guidelines, network with other physicians and practitioners in my field, and improve my knowledge and clinical practice.
How long have you been a member of SPUC?
August 2025
Please list a few of your most recent accomplishments:
I was a resident preceptor for Driscoll Children’s Hospital pediatric residency program 2020-2024.
I was an ambassador for the Texas Pediatric Society infection prevention and control committee 2022-2024.
I collaborate with South Texas Clinical Research Clinic on a variety of vaccine studies.
